Ni Nengah Widiasih Wins Indonesia's First Medal at Tokyo Paralympics

Jakarta: Indonesian powerlifter Ni Nengah Widiasih won the silver medal in the women's 41 kilograms (kg) category, the first medal for Indonesia in the Tokyo Paralympics.
 
The Indonesian paralympic athlete bagged the silver medal after recording a total lift of 98 kg, according to the official Paralympics record.
 
At the previous paralympics in 2016, Widiasih recorded a total lift of 95 kg and grabbed the bronze medal.

"Thank God, Widi succeeded to win the silver medal," said the Head of Indonesia's National Paralympic Committee, Senny Marbun, here on Thursday.
 
"I hope her achievement can inspire other Indonesian paralympic athletes," Marbun added.
 
Held at Tokyo International Forum on Thursday, Chinese powerlifter Guo Lingling won the gold medal, while Venezuelan athlete Clara Fuentes collected the bronze medal.
