Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to participate in an event to celebrate the 9th anniversary of NasDem Party on Wednesday afternoon.
"President Jokowi will virtually join the event and deliver a speech," said NasDem Party's Media and Public Communication Division Head Charles Melkiansyah in a written statement on Wednesday.
To tackle the spread of coronavirus, NasDem Party will implement strict covid-19 health protocols during the event. Held at the State Defense Academy of NasDem Party in South Jakarta, the event will only be attended by around 150 participants. According to Charles, the remaining participants will follow the event virtually.
In addition, NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh will also deliver his political oration during the event. To help the handling of covid-19 in the country, the political party will also distribute as many as 999,999 face masks. Made by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) which are supported by the political party, the masks will be given to people in need.
"The recipients are, among others, islamic boarding schools, orphanages, mosques, traditional market vendors, motorcycle taxi drivers and scavengers," the head of the event, Ahmad Sahroni, said.
The celebration will also be attended by representatives of NasDem Party's 34 regional executive boards from all over Indonesia.
The event will also be broadcast live on Metro TV, YouTube (NasDem TV), and Facebook (NasDem Party Fanpage).
