Jakarta:The National Police isstill chasing three children of suspected terrorist Abu Hamzah who was recently arrested in the North Sumatra city of Sibolga.
"They are H, 18 years old, A, 16 years old, and S, 11 years old," National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pol. Dedi Prasetyo told the press on Thursday.
On Tuesday afternoon, a supected terrorist named Husein alias Abu Hamzah was arrested in his house. While being arrested, he managed to detonate a homemade bomb.
After the arrest, Husein's wife refused to leave her house, located in a residential area in the city. On Wednesday early morning, the woman detonated herself and her two children, prompting nearby residents to leave the site to save themselves.
"We are still investigating the crime scene," the National Police official added.
Two suspected terrorists were nabbed in Lampung and West Kalimantan last week. They allegedly planned terror attacks in Jakarta and their hometowns.
"Sibolga's terrorist arrest is the result of the development of Lampung’s terrorist arrest," President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo told journalists on Wednesday.
The two terror suspects are only identified with their initials R and P. They are reportedly members of Jamaah Ansharud Daulah (JAD) terror group.
According to reports, R was arrested in Lampung province on Saturday. In the meantime, P was arrested in West Kalimantan a day later.
During an interogation, R revealed his plan to attack Lampung Police headquarters and police stations in Jakarta. On the other hand, P allegedly planned to carry out terror attacks against police officers.
“It has nothing to do with the upcoming elections,” the former Jakarta governor emphasized.
Indonesia will hold its first ever simultaneous general and presidential elections on April 17. Voters will elect the president, vice president as well as members of national and local legislative bodies on the same day.
