Solo: State railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is preparing additional train sets to connect Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo, Central Java and New Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta.
“We have ordered up to 20 train sets,” PT KAI president director Edi Sukmoro said here
on Thursday.
Edi explained that the company has added 3 train sets in the first phase. He added that other 4 train sets will be added next year.
At the moment, the construction of the Adi Soemarmo Airport-Balapan Station railway segment
is still in ongoing. Meanwhile, the waiting rooms at Adi Soemarmo Airport and Balapan Station have been fully operational.
“The progress has reached 95 percent. We hope that the construction could be completed by the end of this year,” he added.
After the completion of Adi Soemarmo Airport-Balapan Station railway segment, PT KAI will extend the route until Kulon Progo.
“So, the public can travel between Kulon Progo and Solo more conveniently,” he
