West Sulawesi Quake Death Toll Rises to 81: BNPB

Jakarta: The death toll of Friday's magnitude 6.2 earthquake that rocked West Sulawesi Province has risen to 81, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
 
"70 dead victims were recorded in Mamuju Regency and 11 dead victims were recorded in Majene Regency," said BNPB spokesperson Raditya Jati in a press release on Monday morning.
 
"Regional disaster mitigation agencies in Majene, Mamuju and Polewali Mandar regencies continue to collect data and coordinate with the military, police, SAR officers, volunteers and other agencies," the BNPB official stated.

On Sunday, BNPB Head Doni Monardo, together with West Sulawesi Governor Ali Baal Masdar, visited several quake-affected areas in the region.
 
In addition to that, the BNPB leader also handed over financial assistance to the West Sulawsi provincial government and local governments in Majene and Mamuju regencies.
 
"BNPB distributed 8 sets of isolation tents, 10 sets of refugee tents, 2,004 packages of nutritional supplements, 2,004 packages of ready-to-eat food, 1,002 packages of side dishes, 700 blankets, 5 units of Light Towers, 200 units of beds, 500 packages of baby supplies, 500,000 pcs of cloth masks, 700 packs of sago noodles and 30 units of 5 KVA generators," the spokesperson explained.
