Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has said that online motorcycle taxi drivers will still be able to take passengers during the upcoming Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) period.
According to the former education minister, both drivers and passengers must strictly implement health protocols to tackle the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19).
"They will be allowed to take passengers and deliver goods but they should strictly implement health protocols," Anies said during a press conference here on Sunday.
The Jakarta provincial government plans to reintroduce PSBB measures on September 14. The policy aims to lower the covid-19 hospitalization rate in Indonesia's capital.
The regional government previously implemented PSBB for around two months from April to June. The regional government changed its policy to transitional PSBB in early June.
According to the Jakarta governor, PSBB will be implemented for two weeks. However, it could be extended if necessary.
