Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto to review the implementation of protocols at coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) referral hospitals.
"I instruct the Minister of Health to review the implementation of protocols at all hospitals," President Jokowi said at the State Palace, the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta on Monday.
According to the president, the authorities should be committed to preventing the spread of coronavirus at medical facilities.
"Hospitals should be safe and should not become covid-19 clusters," he stated.
In addition, President Jokowi also instructed Minister Terawan to ensure the availability of ICU and regular beds at covid-19 referral hospitals. To that end, the government recently announced a plan to increase the number of isolation beds in several regions.
"15 hotels in Jakarta will be turned into isolations sites," he revealed.
