Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) are scheduled to meet with the families of fallen submarine crew during his visit to East Java Province on Thursday.
According to reports, President Jokowi and his entourage departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in Jakarta at around 07.00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
President Jokowi earlier announced he will posthumously award promotion and a Jalasena medal to the fallen crew members of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine.
Jalasena Medal is a medal of honor for the Indonesian Navy.
"The state will posthumously award promotion from their current rank to the next higher rank and a Jalasena medal of honor for their, our best soldiers’ dedication, service, and sacrifice," President Jokowi said on Monday.
According to him, The Government will also guarantee the education of the KRI Nanggala-402 members’ children up until Bachelor’s degree.
