PSBB Still Needed to Tackle Covid-19 Spread in Jakarta: Anies

Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has explained that the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) is still need to tackle the spread of coronavirus in the Jakarta Special Capital Region.
 
"If we don't maintain these restrictions and high testing rate, the number of daily cases in Jakarta could reach 2,000," said the Jakarta Governor in a written statement on Thursday.
 
After studying the covid-19 situation in the province, Anies decided to extend the implementation of PSBB until October 11. According to him, PSBB is effective for controlling the spread of coronavirus in the region. Moreover, the decision has been approved by the central government.

"Around 50 percent of total residents stay at home during PSBB period," he revealed.
 
On Thursday afternoon, The National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 4,634 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 262,022.
 
From Wednesday noon to Thursday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries in the country was up by 3,895 to 191,853, while the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths across Indonesia was up by 128 to 10,105.
