Jakarta: The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is ready to evacuate Indonesians in Wuhan, China. The TNI has prepared military aircraft and medical personnel.
"The TNI has prepared (two types of military transportation aircraft) and a group of medical personnel," TNI spokesman Major General Sisriadi said here on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
According to the official, the TNI is ready to support the evacuation process. It is part of the contingency plan of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
"It will be coordinated by the Foreign Affairs Ministry as the leading agency for this issue," Sisriadi remarked.
The Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was first seen in the city of Wuhan. This latest type of coronavirus has killed 131 people and infected more than five thousand people.
The Chinese government has made preventive efforts by closing access to several cities that has the most infected victims, one of which is Wuhan.
According to the latest data submitted by the Foreign Ministry, there are currently 100 Indonesian citizens in Wuhan, while the other 143 Indonesian citizens live in other areas in Hubei province.
