Jakarta: Religious Affairs Minister Fachrul Razi hopes that International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII) could be operational in 2020.
The message was delivered during a meeting with UIII rector Komarudin Hidayat at the Religious Affairs Ministry in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
According to the retired Army general, the university must be able to accomodate foreign students who want to study in Indonesia.
"That is the message of Pak JK (former vice president Jusuf Kalla) in the beginning of this project. Many foreigners wan to study here. So we build the university. Hopefully it could be started next year," he said in a press statement released by the ministry.
The UIII rector agreeed with the Minister's plan to accomodate foreign students. He believes the policy could help promote Indonesia to other countries.
"So other countries could know something about Indonesia. We will use international standards. Indonesia is a heaven of social researches," Komaruddin explained.
During the meeting, Minister Fachrul was appointed by a number of ministry officials.
