Jakarta: Today, Friday, December 20, 2019, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo will appoint the leadership and supervisory board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2019-2023 period. The inauguration will be held at the State Palace this afternoon.

"That's right (inauguration of the KPK leadership and supervisory board). At 14.30 Western Indonesia Time (WIB)," said President's Special Staff for Legal Affairs Early Shanti Purwono when confirmed by Medcom.id on Friday, December 20, 2019.

The five KPK leaders for 2019-2023 are Firli Bahuri, Alexander Marwata, Lili Pantauli Siregar, Nawawi Pomolango and Nurul Ghufron. During the selection process at the House of Representatives (DPR), Firli was elected as the Chairperson of the KPK.

Firli is a high-ranking police officer. Prior to this appointment he had served as the Chief of South Sumatra and West Nusa Tenggara. He is also not new to the Anti-Corruption Commission. It was noted that he had held the position of Deputy of KPK's Enforcement.

Meanwhile, Alexander Marwata was the leader of the KPK for the 2015-2019 period. He is also a former ad hoc judge in the Central Jakarta Corruption Court.

Moreover, Lili Pintauli was known to have served as deputy chairman of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), Nawawi Pamulango was a former judge, and finally Nurul Ghuffron was known as an academic.

Meanwhile, the names of the supervisory board members have not been fully revealed to the public. Jokowi has only leaked three names that will fill the position of supervisory board members.

"There is a Judge Albertina Ho, but that has not been decided yet, Artidjo (Artidjo Alkostar). There is Taufiequrachman Ruki also proposed as a candidate for the supervisory board," Jokowi said at the Novotel Hotel, Balikpapan City on Wednesday, December 18, 2019.

Meanwhile, candidates from prosecutors and economists are still kept secret. The reason is, the prospective member of the Anti-Corruption Commission's supervisory board has not been decided yet.

"Who is the prosecutor? There are prosecutors who are no longer active (retired). It seems that if the economist enters in order for the group to be balanced, (members of the supervisory board) it will be fine," said the President.
