Yogyakarta: Indonesian Railway (PT KAI) Operational Region (Daop) 6 will offer free tickets for three trains to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the Indonesian independence.
The three trains are Prambanan Express (Solo-Yogyakarta-Kutoarjo), Batara Kresna (Solo-Wonogiri) and Kalijaga (Solo-Semarang).
"We will provide free tickets for local trains," PT KAI Daop 6 spokesperson Eko Budiyanto said here on Thursday.
Even though it is free of charge, passengers still have to buy tickets. According to the offical, the tickets can only be purchased at the official ticket counters no earlier than three hours before the departure.
"Passengers cannot book the free tickets online. The tickets can only be purchased at the official counters. The tickets will be available no earlier than three hours before the departure," Eko explained.
The number of free tickets will depend on the capacity of the trains. PT KAI Daop 6 will also give away doorprizes for lucky passengers. (Translator: Rifqi Akbar)
