Meulaboh: Several Indonesian fishermen rescued a cat shark that washed ashore on Pasi Gentheng Beach, Blang Padang Village, Southwest Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, after getting trapped in their fishing net on Sunday afternoon.
"The local traditional fishermen successfully released the ill-fated catshark from the fishing net and helped it return back to sea," Southwest Aceh Deputy Regent Muslizar noted in a statement that ANTARA quoted here Tuesday.
According to him, during the covid-19 pandemic, most local fishermen prefer poaching near the beach by spreading out their fishing net.
The catshark got trapped while they were spreading their fishing net to catch shrimps on Sunday afternoon, he revealed.
Their catch was partly sold and rest was for household consumption, he stated. (antara)
