Jakarta: A magnitude 6.1 earthquake shook Central Maluku Regency in Maluku Province on Wednesday at 11.43 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
Based on the latest data gathered by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake triggered tsunami warnings.
With a depth of 10 kilometers, the epicenter was located 67 kilometers southeast of Central Maluku Regency.
"Be careful of the potential aftershocks," BMKG stated.
According to the government agency, the tremor was also felt in Tehoru, Masohi, Bula, Kairatu, and Ambon.
