Jakarta: The Provincial Government of Jakarta and the State Government of Berlin are jointly implementing the project "Smart Change", funded by the European Union (EU), to improve integrated urban development through their city partnership.
The partnership supports the 2030 Agenda on sustainable development by accelerating digital transformation and the City 4.0 transformation programme of Jakarta.
In collaboration with Hukumonline and RuangWaktu, the project partners have launched the Multi-Stakeholder and Policy Dialogue Series. This is a two-year initiative for the exchange of know-how among dedicated smart city professionals. The purpose is to help policy-making for a sustainable Jakarta.
The first event of this Dialogue Series was held on March 3-4 under the topic of "Smart City and Urban Innovation in Support of the Smart City Committee (Komite Kota Cerdas) Jakarta". The Dialogue brought together stakeholders from the public and private sector, academia and civil society. The aim was to brainstorm innovative solutions for a Smart City and for improving good governance.
"With this collaborative approach we are playing a pivotal role in developing linkages between key role players and local stakeholders, working closely with citizens, academia, our start up ecosystem and local communities. Through this activity we are expecting to increase public participation in order to improve public services and to provide solutions to city challenges by optimising digital technologies and urban innovation in Jakarta," Yudhistira Nugraha, Director of Jakarta Smart City stated, stated in a press release.
Jakarta Smart City is a Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD) under the Jakarta Department of Communication, Informatics, and Statistics. In the journey of transforming Jakarta into a smart city, Jakarta Smart City embodies 4 main principles, namely Mobile First, System and Data Tech, Digital Xperience, and Smart Collaboration. These principles are the credo of Jakarta Smart City in developing products and services and realising the smart city 4.0 ecosystem to improve the quality of life and create happiness for the citizens of Jakarta. It aims at transforming and boosting the city’s evolution towards the government as a collaborator instead of as an administrator.
"The EU is delighted to support the partnership between Jakarta and Berlin for Smart Innovation. This will improve city governance and services for the citizens in Jakarta and it will lead to a sustainable living environment for the citizen. Making cities Smart and Sustainable include promoting the role of women and making sure they have the chance to contribute to economic growth and social development," Vincent Piket, Ambassador of the European Union to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam emphasised.
