Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, said that the national ideology of Pancasila is capable of preventing the spread of radicalism.
Young people tend to be the targets of the spread of radicalism. As a result, they must be taught to internalize the Pancasila values.
“Let us all live by the principles of Pancasila on a daily basis. I always hold forums concerning them to prepare students to internalize the values of unity and strength as a nation based on Pancasila,” Mahfud said here on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
According to Mahfud, news on the death of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s (ISIL) leader, Abu bakar Al Baghdadi, cannot be ignored. He suspected that his death may motivate many of his followers to spread radicalism across the world.
“The spread of radicalism as a result of his death is potential in Indonesia. We must prevent his radical values from spreading in our country,” he said.
He said that the threats Indonesia is currently facing are, separatism and anti-pancasila ideologies, which he said are really dangerous.
“We must prevent and also eradicate these anti-pancasila values and ideologies from our country through our readiness in preserving our national sovereignty," he said. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
