Surabaya: East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has appointed Marhaen Djumadi as Acting Nganjunk Regent after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Nganjuk Regent Novi Rahman Hidayat as a corruption suspect.
On Monday, KPK investigators arrested the Nganjuk Regent and several other people during a sting operation.
According to the anti-corruption agency, Novi was named a bribery suspect related to the rotation of officials in the regency administration.
"Synergy should be done immediately so that this unfortunate case would not affect the local government," Khofifah said after the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday evening.
Khofifah congratulated Marhaen and hoped that he will perform well in his new position.
