Jakarta: Other than Indonesian gold medalists in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, referee Wahyana also received the spotlight.
Wahyana is the referee who led the Badminton Women's Singles Gold Medal Match.
Wahyana stole the attention of Indonesian badminton enthusiasts after
becoming the referee during the match between Chinese badminton player Chen Yufei and her Taiwanese opponent Tai Tzu Ying.
Wahyana is a resident of Dukuh Gancahan 7, Sidomulyo District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Province.
He works as a PE teacher in SMP 4 Patut, Gunung Kidul.
“I am very happy and proud, because the Olympics is the most prestigious event,” Wahyana revealed.
Wahyana’s achievement brought pride for his family. His wife hopes that Wahyana could have a smooth career as a badminton referee.
