Jakarta: Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Rosan Roeslani has urged Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to exclude electric vehicles from the odd-even license plate traffic policy.
Rosan said that the proposal was welcomed by the Jakarta leader. He argued that the use electric is crucial to reduce air pollution in Jakarta.
"In order to boost the development of the industry, incentives should be given to the owners of electric vehicles," the Kadin chairman said here on Tuesday.
"Besides excluding electric vehicles from the odd-even license plate traffic policy, authorities could also offer free parking spots for electric cars," he added.
The Jakarta provincial administration has recently decided to expand its odd-even license plate traffic policy. It will be fully effective on September 9.
The new odd-even routes are Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Jalan Panglima Polim, Jalan Fatmawati (from intersection of Jalan Ketimun 1 - intersection of Jalan TB Simatupang), Jalan Suryopranoto, Jalan Balikpapan, Jalan Kyai Caringin, Jalan Tomang Raya, Jalan Pramuka, Jalan Salemba Raya, Jalan Kramat Raya, Jalan Senen Raya and Jalan Gunung Sahari. The policy will be enforced from 6-10 AM and 4-9 PM, except national holidays.
According to reports, the socialization phase will be held from August 7 until September 8. Meanwhile, the trial phase will be held from August 12 until September 6.
