Jakarta: The National Police Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terror (Densus 88) has arrested 74 suspected terrorists since last week's suicide bombing attack at the Medan Police Headquarters in North Sumatra province.
According to National Police Chief General Idham Azis, they were arrested in various regions of the country.
"The National Police has succeeded in arresting 74 terror suspects in 10 regions," Idham said during a meeting with the House of Representatives Commission III at the Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
Idham said as many as 30 suspected terrorists were arrested in North Sumatra, 11 people in West Java, 11 people in Central Java, five people in Pekanbaru, five people in Banten, four people in East Kalimantan, three people in Jakarta, two people in Aceh, two people in East Java, and one person in South Sulawesi.
"The National Police has revealed the identity of the suicide bombers eight days after the incident," he said.
Idham ensured that the Densus 88 is still chasing other suspected terrorists. He revealed the perpetrator of the suicide bombing attack was a member of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network.
This group is affiliated with ISIS.
"The perpetrator was exposed to radicalism through social," he said.
Idham held his first meeting as National Police Chief with the DPR Commission III. The meeting was also attended by all Regional Police Chiefs in the country.
