Bekasi: The Jakarta-Cikampek Elevated Toll Road is expected to reduce traffic congestion at the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road by around 30 percent. PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek (JJC) president director Djoko Dwijono believes the elevated toll road can support the regular toll road beneath it.
According to him, heavy commercial trucks and personal vehicles that travel a short distance will still use the regular toll road. Meanwhile, personel vehicles that travel a long distance will be advised to use the elevated toll road.
"Personal vehicles will use the elevated toll road. So traffic congestion at the regular toll road can decrease," he said in a press statement issued here on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
He revealed that the elevated toll road has as many as eight emergency lines. He explained that the emergency lines are integrated with every interchange at the regular toll road.
"The eight emergency lines are located at KM 13, 17, 21, 24, 28, 31, 36 and 38," he pointed out.
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono earlier announced that President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will inaugurate the project on Thursday, December 12, 2019. The government plans to open the Jakarta-Cikampek Elevated Toll Road on December 20, 2019.
