Mount Tangkuban Parahu's Alert Status Raised

Bandung: The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) has raised the alert status of Mount Tangkuban Parahu in Bandung, West Java from Level I (Normal) to Level II (Cautious).
 
The alert status was raised after a string of eruptions in the past 24 hours.
 
"The alert staus was raised at 02:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Friday," PVMBG head Kasbani told a press conference here on Friday.

According to the official, his agency has conducted a series of evaluations before rasing the volcano's alert status. In the past 24 hours, the volcano has erupted at least eight times.
 
"It erupted four times on Thursday evening. The other four eruptions occurred on FRiday early morning," Kasbani explained.
 
Furthermore, the official said that visitors are prohibited from being within 1.5 kilometers from Tangkuban Parahu volcano's Ratu Crater.
 
"Visitors can still stay outside the prohibited area," Kasbani stated.
