Fallen Submarine Crew to Receive Posthumous Promotion, Jalasena Star

Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has announced that the government will award a posthumous promotion and the Jalasena Star to the fallen crew of KRI Nanggala-402.
 
"I would like to express my deep sorrow for the deaths of 53 Indonesian Navy soldiers," said President Jokowi in a statement on Monday.
 
According to the President, their dedication will be imprinted on the hearts of all Indonesian people. 

"The state will award a promotion as well as the Jalasena Star for the dedication, dedication and sacrifice of these best soldiers," the former Jakarta mayor stated.
 
Moreover, the government will also guarantee the education of the children of the fallen soldiers up to college level.
 
On Wednesday morning, the Indonesian Navy's Cakra-class submarine went missing during a torpedo drill in the waters north of Bali island.
 
On Saturday, the Indonesian Navy raised the status of KRI Nanggala-402 from lost contact (submiss) to sinking (subsunk).
