Indonesian Government Registers 3,636 New Covid-19 Cases

Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Health on Sunday announced  3,636 new coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases across Indonesia to 218,382.
 
From Saturday noon to Sunday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries was up by 2,552 to 155,010. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths was up by 73 to 8,723.
 
Based on data from the ministry, Jakarta Special Capital Region is one of the epicenters of the covid-19 crisis in Indonesia. To tackle the spread of coronavirus, The Jakarta provincial government plans to reimpose Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on September 14.

According to Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan, the upcoming PSBB will be implemented for two weeks. However, it could be extended if necessary.
 
The regional government previously implemented PSBB for around two months from April to June. The regional government changed its policy to transitional PSBB in early June.
 
"Traditional markets and shopping centers will be allowed to open but they will only be allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity," Anies said during a press conference here on Sunday.
 
"Restaurants and cafes inside malls can only provide take away and delivery services," he added.
