Surabaya: East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa today said that the province still has enough isolation beds for coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) patients.
"Thank God, the number is still good. The bed occupancy rate is around 49 percent. It is in line with WHO's advice," the former social affairs minister said here on Friday.
According to her, 3,221 out of 6,611 isolation beds are currently occupied. Moreover, only 72 out of ICU beds are currently occupied.
"It is the result of our hard work. The provincial government and city/regency governments have been increasing the number of beds for covid-19 patients," she stated.
On Friday afternoon, the Indonesian Ministry of Health announced 3,737 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 210,940.
From Thursday noon to Friday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries was up by 2,707 to 150,217. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths was up by 88 to 8,544.
