Jakarta: PT Indonesia Epson Industry's factory in Bekasi Regency was temporarily closed down after 352 workers at the factory tested positive for covid-19.
"It has been closed down," Bekasi Regency Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Alamsyah said here on Monday.
According to the spokesman, the majority of infected workers live in Bekasi Regency. However, some of them are originated from nearby areas, including Bekasi City, Karawang Regency and Jakarta Province.
Since August, around 300 clusters have been detected in industrial areas in Bekasi Regency. Last month, 242 workers at LG Elektronik Indonesia's factory tested positive for the virus.
To curb the spread of the virus, the National Covid-19 Task Force is currently focusing on flattening the covid-19 infection curve in nine provinces with the highest transmission rates, namely Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Papua, and Bali.
On Monday afternoon, the Indonesian government confirmed 4,176 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in the country to 248,852.
