Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Health on Tuesday announced 2,046 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases to 200,035.

From Monday noon to Tuesday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries increased by 2,306 to 142,958. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths rose by 100 to 8,230.

On Monday, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded his Cabinet to stay focused on covid-19 mitigation and put public health above anything else as the economic recovery could only begin once public health has been restored.

According to President Jokowi, public health is the key to Indonesia’s economic recovery.

After receiving instructions from President Jokowi, Chairperson of the Working Committee for Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (PC-PEN) Airlangga Hartarto said the government would focus on strategies to reduce the risk of economic contraction in the second half of 2020, especially by optimizing the potential budget that may not be absorbed by reallocating it to programs that can be implemented and completed this year for national economic recovery.

According to Minister Airlangga, the results of monitoring and evaluation of the PEN programs were running quite well.
