Jakarta: The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy is confident that Indonesia is ready to lift community activity restrictions (PPKM).
According to Muhadjir, the COVID-19 situation in Indonesia is already entering an endemic phase.
"We are just waiting for an order from the President. Regarding preparations, God willing, they are ready," Muhadjir said in Jakarta on Wednesday, December 21, 2022
"According to the regulations, it should have ended this December," he explained.
However, Muhadjir believes there will be new measures to prevent a surge in COVID-19 cases after PPKM measures are revoked. The new measures will be formulated by the Ministry of Health.
"One of the things that we have prepared, and that is under the technical ministry, I think, the Minister of Health (Budi Gunadi)," he explained.
Earlier today President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed that the government might lift PPKM measures at the end of this year. This step was taken considering the improving public health condition in the country.
