Jakarta: National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) Governor Andi Widjajanto is confident that Indonesia has a potential to become a global maritime power.

According to the former cabinet secretary, this could be realized through a careful planning.

"We are aware that becoming a maritime power requires long and strategic steps not only for 2024 but until 2070," Andi said at The 6th Jakarta Geopolitical Forum 2022 at Grand Studio Metro TV, Kedoya, Jakarta on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

The 6th Jakarta Geopolitical Forum 2022, he said, is one of the efforts to prepare Indonesia's resilience so that Indonesia is ready to face the upcoming geopolitical challenges.

"So it could become a regional power in the future," he said.

Andi is optimistic that The 6th Jakarta Geopolitical Forum 2022 would be able to help strengthen Indonesia's maritime capacity so that the country could contribute more in the region.

"The region could be Southeast Asia, East Asia, or Asia-Pacific," he said.
