Jakarta: The Jakarta provincial government has deciced to extend the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Indonesia's capital until October 11.
"If we ease the restrictions now, the number of cases could continue to increase," Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said here on Thursday.
According to the former education minister, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has approved the local government's decision.
"The minister has greenlighted the extension," the Jakarta Governor stated.
On Thursday afternoon, The National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 4,634 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 262,022.
From Wednesday noon to Thursday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries was up by 3,895 to 191,853, while the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths was up by 128 to 10,105.
