Jakarta: DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared 477 water pumps to anticipate floods. Pumps spread throughout 176 locations.
Head of the Water Resources Department (SDA) Juaini detailed 100 pumps distributed at 38 points in West Jakarta, 38 pumps at 19 locations in North Jakarta, 57 pumps at 17 locations in Central Jakarta, 38 pumps at 20 locations in East Jakarta, and 69 pumps at 35 locations in South Jakarta.
A total of 49 pumps were also installed in 14 western area locations, 79 pumps in 18 central area locations, and 47 pumps in 16 eastern locations.
"All pumps are on standby. If needed, they will immediately be turned on," Juaini said in the Jakarta Regional Parliament on Monday, December 23, 2019.
All pumps have a capacity of 490.88 cubic per second. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing 122 mobile pumps. These pumps is also spread in five areas of Jakarta.
"These pumps will be released to certain areas if there is build up of water," he said.
Juaini said the community could use the mobile pumps at any time if there is a build up of water. "People can contact us if the area has a a build up of water. We will go there directly," he concluded.
