Jakarta: The Commission III of the House of Representative (DPR) has endorsed the nomination of Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as National Police (Polri) chief.
The current Polri chief General Idham Azis will enter retirement age in February 2021.
"Leaders and members of the Commission III unanimously endorse the dismissal of Idham Azis from the Polri chief position and the appointment of Listo Sigit Prabowo as the new Polri chief," said Commission III Chairman Herman Herry here on Wednesday.
During today's fit and proper test, the police general explained his vision and mission as the next Polri chief and conveyed his commitment to improving the performance of the law enforcement agency.
According to the Commission III head, the results of the fit and proper test will be conveyed by the Commission III in a plenary meeting in the near future.
Last week, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) nominated the Head of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) as the sole candidate of Polri chief.
