Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has formed the Team for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Vaccine Development. The team is based on the Presidential Decree Number 18 of 2020.
The president previously formed two teams, namely the Covid-19 Task Force and the National Economic Recovery Task Force. They were under the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC PEN).
"The team aims to accelerate vaccine development. Second, we want to achieve national resilience and national independence, especially in vaccine development. Third, we want to increase synergy between research institutions," Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to him, this synergy is carried out because of the large number of research institutions in Indonesia.
So that by doing synergy, these institutions will have the same goal.
The team is led by Minister of Research and Technology Bambang Brodjonegoro. There are two deputy chairpersons, namely Minister of Health Terawan Agus Putranto and Minister for State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir. The team consists of various ministries and government agencies.
