Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Health on Friday reported that the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Jakarta special capital region increased by 964 to 51,635 in the past 24 hours.
In addition, Indonesia's capital also registered 900 new covid-19 recoveries and 17 new covid-19 deaths.
The Jakarta provincial government plans to reintroduce Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on September 14. The policy aims to decrease the covid-19 hospitalization rate in Indonesia's capital.
The Jakarta provincial government previously implemented PSBB for around two months from April to June. The regional government changed its policy to transitional PSBB in early June.
"We will no longer implement transitional PSBB. We will reimpose PSBB," Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said during a virtual press conference here on Wednesday.
On Friday afternoon, Indonesia recorded 3,737 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 210,940.
