Banda Aceh: Floods inundated at least eight villages in Langa City, Aceh Province after heavy rainfall occured in the region in the past few days.
According to the Aceh Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBA) executive chairman Sunawardi, the eight villages are Jawa, Pondok Pabrik, Sidodadi, Selalah Baru, Pondok Kemuning, Geudubang Aceh, Lengkong and Paya Bujok Seuleumak.
"Hevay rainfall was recorded in Langsa City in the past few days," the BPBA official said here on Friday.
The BPBA is still gathering data and information from the affected regions. At least 1,322 houses were damaged by the flooding. There were no reports of casuaties.
"Several areas are still being inundated by flood water," the official stated.
According to the Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Dwikorita Karnawati, the peak of La Nina is expected to occur in December to January, while the peak of the rainy season in Indonesia is expected to occur in January to February.
