Death Toll in Maluku Quake Rises to 31: BNPB

Jakarta: The death toll from Thursday's 6.5 magnitude earthquake that rocked several regions in Maluku province has increased to 31.
 
"One more victim was identified in western part of Seram Regency," National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman Agus Wibowo said in a written statement released on Monday, September 30, 2019.
 
According to BNPB, the number of injured victims reached 179 people, while the number of evacuees in Ambon and Seram stood at 136,030 people.

In the meantime, as many as 2,675 homes were ruined by the powerful earthquake, while dozens of schools, worship places and government buildings had damage.
 
The 6.5 magnitude eathquake shook Ambon and its nearby areas on Thursday morning. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 40 kilometers northwest of Ambon. 
 
The earthquake did not trigger tsunami warnings. Nevertheless, the strong quake caused panic in Ambon.
