Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has said that the Jakarta provincial government will transformed several regional general hospitals into covid-19 hospitals.
"In the first phase, RSUD Pasar Minggu and RSUD Cengkarang will be transformed into covid-19 hospitals," the governor said during a virtual press conference here on Wednesday evening.
To tacke the spread of covid-19 in Indonesia's capital, public health centers (puskesmas) will regularly conduct active case finding and tracing activities. In addition, local authorities will increase the number of isolation and ICU beds.
According to Anies, the number of isolation beds will be increased by 20 percent to 4,807. Meanwhile, the number of ICU beds will increased to 636 from 428.
The Jakarta provincial government will reintroduce large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) on September 14. The hospitalization rate in Jakarta has been steadily increasing over the past few weeks.
The Jakarta provincial government previously implemented PSBB for around two months from April to June. The local government then decided to ease the implementation of PSBB in early June.
"We will no longer implement transitional PSBB. We will return to PSBB," he said.
