Jakarta: Floods have receded in every area in Jakarta and evacuees have returned to their home, the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Jakarta said on Wednesday.
"Floods have receded in every area," the Jakarta BPBD Executive Chairman Sabdo Kurnianto said in a written statement.
However, to anticipate future flooding, the Jakarta provincial administration will continue to monitor flood-prone areas in Indonesia's capital.
"We have cleaned up the affected areas so people can safely return to their home," the local official stated.
Large parts of Indonesia have seen significantly above-normal rainfall totals in the last few months.
La Nina refers to the large-scale cooling of the ocean surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean, coupled with changes in the tropical atmospheric circulation, namely winds, pressure and rainfall.
It usually has the opposite impacts on weather and climate as El Nino, which is the warm phase of the so-called El Niño Southern Oscillation.
