Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to visit quake-affected areas in West Sulawesi after he visited flood-affected areas in South Kalimantan.
According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Friday's magnitude 6.2 earthquake killed at least 84 people and displaced thousands of people in Mamuju and Majene regencies.
"He will visit Mamuju Regency to directly observe the latest situation," said Assistant I of the West Sulawesi Provincial Government, Muhammad Natsir, during a virtual press conference on Monday.
During the past two weeks, Indonesia is struggling with a string of disasters, such as landslide in West Java, earthquake in West Sulawesi, and floods in South Kalimantan.
On Sunday, BNPB Head Doni Monardo, together with West Sulawesi Governor Ali Baal Masdar, visited several quake-affected areas in the region.
In addition to that, the BNPB leader also handed over financial assistance to the West Sulawesi provincial government and local governments in Majene and Mamuju regencies.
