Sikka: The Sikka regency government in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province decided to implement Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) after 25 people in the regency tested positive for covid-19.
According to Sikka Regent Fransiskus Roberto Diogo, 23 of them are Army soldiers. Meanwhile, the remaining two are locals who live near the Army soldiers.
"We examined 11 locals who live near the Army soldiers. 2 of them tested positive for covid-19. So, we have had local transmission," the regent explained here on Thursday.
To tackle the spread of the virus, PSBB measures will be implemented for 14 days. In addition, Sikka residents are urged to stay at home.
"If you need to go outside, you must srictly implement health protocols," the regent stated.
On Wednesday afternoon, the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 4,284 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 287,008.
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, from Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries across Indonesia was up by 4,510 to 214,947.
Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths in the country was up by 139 to 10,740.
"If we don't register new covid-19 cases, Sikka can receive green zone status again," the regent concluded. (Gabriel Langga)
