Semarang: Semarang City, the capital of Central Java Province, and its nearby regions have been inundated following heavy downpour over the past few days.
"Other regions in Central Java have also been inundated. Some of them are Demak, Kudus, Pati, and Kendal regencies," said the Central Java Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency Executive Chairman Arief Wahyudhi here on Monday.
According to the local official, heavy rains occurred in Semarang City and its nearby regions on Friday and Saturday.
"Flood waters have subsided in some areas," Arief explained.
In order to deal with the impact of the flooding, his agency will focus on evacuation and aid distribution activities in flood-affected areas.
"There are at least 42 flood-affected areas in the city of Semarang," he stated.
