Dry Season Predicted to End in November: BMKG

Candra Yuri Nuralam • 27 September 2019 12:51
Jakarta: The Agency of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) has predicted that the dry season in Indonesia would end in the middle of November. The transitional period is expected to vary across different regions.

“In general, BMKG has predicted that the dry season would last until either the middle of November or the beginning of October.  Several regions right now are in the transitional
period,” BMKG deputy-head, Mulyono R Prabowo, said here on Thursday.

Prabowo asserted that each of the regions has their different time as to when the raining season comes. This is due to the fact that dry season proceeds from West to East.

In general, the raining season would start from North Sumatra, and then it will proceed to
Kalimantan. Thereafter, it would enter into Java, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“On the other words, NTT will experience the longest dry season,” said Prabowo.

BMKG has also predicted that the peak of the raining season would occur between January and February. Western part of Sumatra is predicted to be the first area which would experience rainy season. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
