Jakarta's Supermarkets, Hypermarkets Must Use PeduliLindungi App: Governor

Antara • 09 September 2021 14:36
Jakarta: The Jakarta administration has made it imperative for supermarkets and hypermarkets to use the PeduliLindungi application according to Governor's Decree No. 1072 of 2021 on level-three covid-19 restrictions (PPKM) in the capital city.

"It is mandatory to use the PeduliLindungi application starting from September 14, 2021," Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated here on Wednesday.

The application is used for examining both supermarket employees and visitors that have been vaccinated.

In the latest regulation signed by the governor on Monday (September 6), the operating hours of supermarkets, hypermarkets, traditional markets, and grocery stores selling daily necessities are limited to 9 p.m. local time.

The number of visitors allowed is capped at 50 percent of the total capacity, and with the implementation of stricter health protocols, the main market can operate according to its operating hours.

Similar implementations had earlier been applied in shopping centers, malls, or trade centers by necessitating visitors to check through a barcode scan before entering the mall.

The maximum allowed capacity for malls, shopping centers, and trade centers is 50 percent, and the operating hours are until 9 p.m. local time.

Meanwhile, restaurants and cafes at shopping centers, malls, and trade centers can accept on-site dining, with a maximum capacity of 50 percent, one table for a maximum of two people, and a maximum meal time of 60 minutes.

In a bid to handle the surge in covid-19 cases, the Indonesian government has been implementing public activity restrictions in several regions with varying levels.

Since first being confirmed in March 2020, the confirmed COVID-19 case count in Indonesia, as of September 8, 2021, had reached 4,147,365.
