According to Presidential Regulation Number 43 Year 2019, the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry is also tasked to renovate and rehabiliate public facilities such as schools, Islamic schools, universities, markets and sport complexes.

In 2019, the Directorate General of Human Settlements at the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry has rehabilitated as many as 1,679 schools and 177 Islamic schools across the country.
"The total cost of the renovation of (Public Islamic Junior School 3 Pekanbaru) was Rp14 billion," Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said.
In Riau Province, the program was held in 12 cities and regencies namely Bengkalis, Kampar, Kuantan Singingi, Indragiri Hulu, Indragiri Hilir, Rokan Hulu, Rokan Hilir, Siak, Pelalawan, Meranti, Pekanbaru and Dumai.
