Ministry of Transportation Anticipates Jakarta-Cikampek Flyover Traffic

Jakarta: Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Pitra Setiawan said the Ministry of Transportation had predicted a surge in vehicles during the 2019 Christmas holiday season and the New Year 2020 (Nataru), especially in the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Flyover Toll Road at the peak of the vacation flow.  The new toll road is considered to be in high demand by motorists when traveling and causing overcrowding.

"It has been predicted today as the peak of Nataru (Christmas and New Year) vacation. The density disturbance occurs in the Japek II Toll road.  There are several anticipated scenarios, one of which is the one-way scenario, "explained Pitra at the Kemenhub Building Jakarta on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Fitra said, the density of vehicles during Nataru is situational.  He said he had anticipated especially in the Japek II Toll Road since Saturday morning through the one way scenario.  The result is that traffic flow runs smoothly even though it is a little choked up.

According to Fitra, the traffic density in the Japek II Toll is due to the enthusiasm of the people who want to try the new toll road.  Even so, he admitted that operationally it was not perfect, the implication was that traffic still occurred. This is due to the impact of the traffic to KM 48 to the Japek II Toll because there are no other detours.

"The Japek II toll road is new.  Yes, the anticipation is that the scenario is to prepare such as patrol tow vehicles, ambulances, and emergency stairs.  Only because the toll road has just started its operation, there are still shortages at the entrances and exits," he explained.  (Hilda Julaika)
