Jakarta: Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Body (BMKG) has predicted that rainy season will start in the first week of next month up until the third week.
The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) has urged people to prepare for potential rainy season.
Rainy Season can cause natural disasters, such as landslide and flooding.
“We urge people to carry out preventive actions, such as the cleaning of sewers and the cutting of trees," BNPB spokesperson, Agus Wibowo, said here on Monday, October 28, 2019.
BNPB has also carried out preventive acts prior to the beginning of rainy season. The agency has been regularly sending information concerning the possibility of natural disasters to provincial and local governments.
Moreover, the body has also allocated operational fund of 30 billion rupiah to anticipate natural disasters.
“BNPB has been routinely sending warnings to provincial and municipal governments on the anticipation of natural disasters during rainy season,” said Agus. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
