Sukabumi: The Sukabumi Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded that throughout April this year, 68 natural disasters had hit different parts of Sukabumi regency in West Java Province, damaging almost 100 houses and forcing 354 people to take refuge.

Landslides dominated the disasters, Head of the Sukabumi Disaster Mitigation Agency's Management Operations Center Daeng Sutisna told local journalists here on Wednesday.

"In April, there were 35 landslides in vulnerable areas caused by heavy rainfall," he said, adding that the areas of Sukabumi District also went through other disasters such as flooding, whirlwinds, and land movement.

He predicted that the catastrophes would continue to threaten Sukabumi District in May, including land movement in Gunungbatu Hamlet, Kertaangsana Village, Nyalindung Sub-district.
