Jakarta: A magnitude 6.9 earthquake shook waters off Larantuka region in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province at 11:09 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Friday.
Based on data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake did not trigger tsunami warnings.
With a depth of 670 kilometers, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 171 kilometers northeast of Larantuka region.
The earthquake was also felt in other nearby regions, including Waingapu (III-IV), Mataram (III), Bima (II-III), Tambaloka (II), Sumbawa Besar (III), Ende (II-III), Ruteng (II-III), Kairatu (II-III), Banda (II-III), Kendari (II), Kupang (II), and Alor (II).
