Gerindra Lawmaker Soepriyatno Dies from Covid-19

Jakarta: Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party lawmaker Soepriyatno passed away after suffering from covid-19 for two weeks.
According to Gerindra Party's East Java Chapter Deputy Chairman Hendro Tri Subiantoro, Soepriyanto was treated at the Pertamina Central Hospital in South Jakarta.
"He tested positive for coronavirus two weeks ago," the Gerindra Party politician said here on Friday.

Soepriyanto served as the member of the Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Chaimran of the East Java Chapter of Gerindra Party.
Earlier this week, DPR Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin revealed that as many as 18 lawmakers and 22 staff tested positive for coronavirus.
To tackle the spread of covid-19 at the Parliament Complex, the DPR Secrteriat plans to temporarily close down the Nusantara I Building from next week until the beginning of the next session period in early November 2020.
On Thursday, the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 4,850 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 320,564.
